Appreciating our kids: a video you won't forget
Here's part two to today's post about savoring our kids' cuteness: this video clip of author Katrina Kenison reading from her book, The Gift Of An Ordinary Day. Thanks to Alexandra for the heads up; it is powerful, and especially meaningful to this mom of a kid with special needs.

I saw this video a few months ago... and tissues were needed. THe same is true tonight!
Oh this was piognant! I cried my eyes out. Thanks for sharing. Somehow I think it may have meant more to me as a special needs mother than she even intended--if that makes sense at all?
Well, man. That got me all misty-eyed.
I cannot thank you enough for posting this, I could not begin to tell you how much I needed to hear that today!!! Wow.. I had to watch it twice, I was so deeply moved and somehow awakened by it...

Though the video is wonderful, the book is even more inspiring. I treasure my copy, and I give copies to my friends. Every one who has received it from me, has thanked me so many times over.
The book is fantastic, I like to carry it in my purse. I pull it out and read it while I'm waiting for the kids after school, or at swimming, etc. By the time I finish just one essay, I am all misty eyed and just searching for my kids to hug them.
This book has made me a more appreciative, loving mom: which is why I always keep it 2 ft away. It works every time.
I have seen this before and enjoyed it every bit as much this time, it is a good reminder to treasure what we have when we have it:) Jen.
Amy, I felt the same, that this somehow had special meaning for moms of kids with special needs.
The author does have a child with special needs, and she has an exceptional chapter written on looking for a school that "fits", finding schools that didn't "fit", and how different life with this child is from the other,,,but how much she has learned from this child. She has learned things that have shaped her, and changed her, and made her life into something it never would've been without him. It is exceptional writing.
That video made me sob!! Thanks for posting it. What a great reminder for me today! xo
