Valentine's giveaway: Win a big box of Sweethearts—plus, a debut

When I was growing up, every Valentine's Day my mom would give me and my sister a box of Sweethearts. They'd be waiting for us on the kitchen table when we got home from school, a little box of pure fun and sweetness. Today the candies are a comfort treat for me because whenever I eat one I think of my mom and how she was the type of mom to do that sort of thoughtful, caring thing.

Sweethearts recently sent me a box of them, and invited me to introduce a new saying that's appearing on the hearts for the first time. Last year, they asked people for their suggestions, and got about 10,000 responses. The winners include "Tweet Me" and "You Rock" and, ta-dah, this:

I think it's perfect for Max, who really is the sweetest, most good-natured child although he definitely gets a devilish glint in his eye when he's tormenting his sister. For the record, Sabrina has her angelic moments, too. Some.

A few sayings that didn't make it: Latte Love, Hot Dawg and Eat Bacon. !!!

Sweethearts is offering up a gift package of 15 boxes of Sweethearts to three readers. To enter, leave a comment about the saying you'd like to see on a heart. And remember, this is a G-rated blog! Mine: Let's snack. Because I am a professional snacker, although I have not yet figured out a way to earn an income off that.

Note: You must leave your e-mail in the comment if it is not findable on your blog, since my ESP is still not up and running. Even if you don't win, you can always send a box of personalized Virtual Sweethearts online here.

BONUS ENTRIES: After you leave your main comment, leave a separate comment for each of the following that you have done:

I love the new saying...so simple and yet so sweet!

Hmmm, I'd probably want them to say something like "Hi, Sweetie" - cheesy, I know!

Would loooove to win! mellow1422@aol.com

Because of the "Tweet Me" one I thought "Hmmm...what would a facebook Sweetheart say?"

All I came up with was: "Poke Me?" but figured that's probably not appropriate even if I mean it in the most innocent way. :)

Hmmm...

The first thing that came to mind was "How you doing?" (think Joey on Friends). Really I am just demonstrating my lack of creativity. Sad I know.

I do have a cute sweetheart story. My husband and I bought a yellow lab years ago (she now belongs to someone else). We were filling out the AKC registration form and you have to put down 3 names. We knew we were going to name her Sammie. My husband wanted "Sammie the Fish" because he thought it sounded like a mobster name. We decided to pick a sweetheart and let that decide her name. The heart we picked out said "Dream Girl". So that became her "official" name - Sammie Dream Girl.

These might be too long for a sweetheart. But what about "You're almost as good as ice cream". Or "You're delicious"; these would be my votes.

with so much of todays kids texting and talking on facebook I think that "lol" is appropriate. In my day that meant lots of love but todays meaning is laugh out loud either way it is age appropriate with dual meanings. it's a win win!
