Word-filled Wednesday: Max has his longest phone conversation in the history of...Max

Here's Max talking on the phone with my mom (aka "Babba"). I love how clearly he can say "NOOOOOOOO," he wasn't doing that last year at this time. He wasn't even stringing sounds like this together last year. Of special note: At second 0:32, you'll hear him say car wash—and he got a pretty good "shhhh" sound in there, which I hadn't heard before.

I suspect he was suggesting my mother buy him a car wash, asking what her sign was, and giving her stock tips, but I can't be sure.

  2. He is so doggone cute!

Are we seeing those stem cells at work, I wonder? That "car wash" sounded clear as a bell to me--it's no small feat to have the tongue control to say that particular phrase!

  4. I love those knowing looks he gives you about halfway through. So awesome!

My son does this--holds the phone up in a position where there is no way he can hear what Grandma says but she can sure hear him. I think he likes it better that way!

Isn't it exciting to see the progress, however slow it might be? I should do that more, if I get discouraged, think--where was Leo last year at this time. Cause that makes me thrilled, when I think about it. Thanks for sharing!

  7. Love this! I love how he paces around while he is talking - must be a man thing because my husband is incapable of sitting still while talking on the phone! I also love that laugh! He is irresistible!

  9. I dunno-
It would be cool to know what grandma said- because the tone of the sounds and the stops make me think he's really answering her questions......

  11. WOW Max. I would love to have heard his grandmother too. I could have sworn that I also hear him say several things in response. Like "NO, chocolate." I definitely heard the car wash, and his "no's" rock!!

He is so handsome, and he definitely has fabulous hair.

Thanks for sharing this. It was wonderful.

  12. Okay, I think it was around 1:09 minutes that I heard the "No, chocolate." I bet they were talking about ice cream some where in that conversation too.

  13. O.k. this was awesome. We definitely have to hear your mother's side of this story. I did hear her say "where's Mommy", (he gestured towards you,"Where's mommy" I think he was quite attentive to alot of things, I thought at one point he heard Sabrina and he turned around to see what she was doing, another time he kinda got the impression that either you or your mom was about to end the conversation so he walked away, not really wanting it to end. I think he did a great job at paying attention to all 3 of you. Now that's coordination!

  14. Max WAS responding to my Mom's questions! At first, she was saying bye (I only started taping after they'd been talking for a bit, so the entire conversation lasted a good five minutes). My mom doesn't remember what else she asked, but she did ask if he likes purple. So, Amy, it really IS possible he said "No, chocolate"—because brown is his new favorite color, and he thinks a better name for brown is "chocolate." Because he's fancy that way.

I love how you guys are interpreting him. It's like Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, people hear different things, except that if we played this video backwards I do not think it would say "Paul is dead."
