10 honest things about me

Thanks to Mel from Fraase Family and Ally of Ally in Wonderland for the "Honest Scrap" award. I'm flattered! Here's what I'm supposed to do:

A) List 10 honest things about yourself—and make them interesting, even if you have to dig deep! B) Pass the award on to 7 bloggers who you feel embody the spirit of the Honest Scrap and whose blogs you find brilliant in design or content.

So, first, 10 honest things about me.

1. I am almost four years older than my husband. We met at a dance club.
2. I am a piano idiot savant. I can play pieces like "Moonlight Sonata" by heart, but when I go to note read I'm completely flummoxed.
3. Once in a while, I cry in the shower when I think about what happened to Max.
4. I drive like a New York City taxi driver.
5. I have never watched Lost, Mad Men, 24 or Top Chef, but I have not missed a single episode of American Idol.
6. I am a gifted sleeper.
7. I have one of those familiar faces, and people often think they know me when they don't. At a recent event, I got to meet Condoleeza Rice. Yes, I did. She shook my hand and said, "We've met before, haven't we?" And I said, "No, I haven't had that pleasure." And she said, "I know you from somewhere!" Well, I wasn't going to argue with her.
8. I consider making scrambled eggs cooking. Can you say "takeout"?
9. I am not afraid of snakes, mice, spiders or bees. But I am really afraid of cockroaches.
10. Sometimes, I hide in my bedroom from the kids so I can blog.

Time to pass the "Honest Scrap" award along to 7 bloggers. I wish I could give it to all of you! But no, just 7, per the rules. I've chosen a mix of new and old blogging friends. Do not feel any obligation to do this if you don't feel like it. And the award goes to... Dianne at Nothing But Everything, Sarah at My Crazy Mommy Life, Mia at General Hysteria, Pia at Welcome to Par(ent)adise, Holly at Caleigh's Corner, Trish at Another Piece of the Puzzle, Jenn at The Pregnancy According to Jude.

  1. I am also scared of cockroaches. very much so.

  2. Thank you for including me. Let me think on this and I will be sure to post.

  3. ellen, scrambled eggs are cooking!

  4. I will be sure to put this on my blog and give away the award when my mouse is finger is getting sore from using 'TAB'!

    Fun things to know!

  5. that is SO funny, i have a familiar face, too -- people ALWAYS think they've already met me, or they tell me i look just like their cousin/co-worker/friend from camp.

  6. Love it... But you left me out! Waaaaaa!!!! :-)

  7. Honorable mention to Rich, over at

  8. We have a couple things in common. I too have one of those faces. People always think they know me. I've never watched Lost or any of the other shows you mentions and I too cry in the shower about Bennett.

As for you being a gifted sleeper - all I can say is that I'm incredibly jealous!

  9. Thanks for sharing this! I also cry in the shower when I think about everything Daniel has endured in his short life and will endure in the future. In fact, I'll admit that I had a good, long cry while washing my hair about 20 minutes ago.
As for the age difference between you and your husband, age is just a number. Hubby is nearly a decade older than me, and we're going strong. I do tease him about it from time to time, though.
By the way, scrambled eggs are a food group in my house - you'd be a very welcome chef in our kitchen!

  10. You know, Barbara and Joanna, I THOUGHT you looked familiar. :) Andrea, you are invited any time over for scrambled eggs, though if you'd like to show up with a homecooked meal that would be fine, too. And, yeah, crying in the shower. It just happens, and by the time the shower's done I usually feel OK.

  11. Thanks for playing, good 10 things! I feel pretty good about being able to cook eggs (and not much more) so let's not get too crazy here!!

  12. Aww, thanks Ellen.

We've been away at the beach for a few days, but I promise to put up a post later today.

I am not scared of cockroaches but I hate them with a passion.

  13. Belated thanks for the award! Thanks for thinking of me!

Thanks for sharing!
