Prayers for a child who is gone too soon

I am sitting here at my kitchen table, tears pouring down my face. I just read about a blogger, Anna over at An Inch of Gray, who lost her son in a flash flood in Virginia over the weekend. He was 12 years old, a beautiful boy. Her previous post had been about her children's first day of school. A few posts down, fun-filled photos from a beach vacation.

Until you become a mother, you cannot comprehend what it would be like to lose a child. Tonight, I feel that mother's pain.

Please, all, say prayers for this child, for his mom and for the family.

  2. I blogged about that Saturday. Just devastating. Thank you for the reminder to say more prayers for the family. And maybe to give my little one another kiss before I go to sleep tonight.

  3. I'm heartbroken for her too. I went to his service yesterday and it is clear that her son was incredibly loved, not just by Anna and her family, but by everyone who knew him. So very, very sad.

  7. I've stood by friends who have lost siblings, parents and fiancés. But I've never before seen a friend lose a child. I don't think I've ever felt this much grief for someone else's loss. Anna gains so much strength and comfort from prayer - I know that yours mean the world to her.

  8. This story devastates me! I initially heard about it on my facebook feed when a former coworker mentioned what happened. She's a close friend of the family. A few days later, Twitter was abuzz about it because of the blogging connection, and I realized it was the same child!

I simply can't imagine what kind of pain Anna is going through.

Let's all hug are kids and send the family prayers.

  12. I work in Arlington County. I was hearing the dispatch for that call all day. It seemed to go on and on.

We had our own flash flood to handle. I am not a strong swimmer, and every moment I was in the water, I kept saying to myself "I want to see my son in the morning." My son also has Down Snydrome and is the best 18mos old ever. ;)
