Win a $75 shopping spree from Jockey: Easy Week giveaway


I am not sure how I existed before the invention of yoga pants. I live in them, even sleep in them sometimes. If I could swim in them, I would. (Note, however, I did not get married in yoga pants.)


The Relaxed Crop ones from Jockey are my faves. They're soft and comfy, but they're also made of this durable, matte fabric with flat seams that somehow makes me feel slimmer and all sporty, even if I am mostly just running...errands.

Happily, I have been squeezing in exercise lately. I've got a new work gig, and I've been walking from the train station to the office and back at night. It's a mile each way. In New York, it's a lot more pleasant to walk than to descend into Dante's Inferno (aka the subways), especially during the summer. Besides, walking is the only realistic way for me to squeeze in exercise during the weekdays.

The Jockey people sent me some gear from their staycool line—a reversible tank and t-shirt, undies. The material's made with Outlast technology originally developed for NASA; it's supposed to cool the "micro-climate" around your skin and help maintain your ideal body temp. I loved the silky feel of the shirts, and that they're reversible so you can wear them as a v-neck or crew, but mostly wanted to see if it made me feel any less sweaty during the walk (why yes, I sweat!).



Here's the Jockey staycool commercial. I don't understand why they didn't ask me to star in it, but whatever. Anyway, I speed-walked to and from the office in the staycool tank and briefs a few days in a row. And I actually did feel a little less warm than usual. So, yay, staycool.

  17. I exercise by stirring my coffee, into which I have poured 2 packets of Equal, 1 packet of Sweet-N-Low and some powdered creamer. Then I strut to my desk and spin around in my chair :-))

I walk to work every morning, uphill, through the park, surrounded by joggers and bikers, wearing my backpack, and then I change my top in the restroom--so I could use one of these special T shirts. Has to be nice enough that if I see a student on the way into the building they're not all, "What are you wearing?" I might try one even if I don't win. (My first comment on your blog--go special needs parenting!)

  33. I am a walker. Most days I am able to get out with our girls and the dog. We do a 3 mile loop by my home. It is good for all of us even though they ride lol :) Not the dog the kids lol :) Thank you!

  38. May have to try those "makes me feel slimmer" crops- as yes, I do sleep in yoga pants. I figure if I dress accordingly and dream about yoga, well thats pretty close.

    Daily exercise- hmm. Lifting my 9yo who assists me very nicely.. in/out her car seat, in/off in the bathroom, lifting the walker, the wheelchair, schlepping the multiple backpacks.. well you know, its MOMercise. Oh and I run around like a crazy person at work and at home. thats the best I can muster..

  61. My favorite is walking at 5am with my friend! We just got back from a 2.5 mile walk. Its therapy for the both of us to walk about life and get some quiet time away from the craziness. If I dont do it in the am I wont do it at all!! :-)

  143. I am so lucky that I have an exercise buddy! We only have time to meet at the gym once a week, but working out with her every Tuesday is my favorite way to work out! We use treadmills, weight machines, and do a little of everything there and give each other encouragement.
