OK, I am leaving my Max worries, my sweatpants and my Birkenstocks behind, and I'm off to BlogHer. In honor of the conference, I bring you this list. Because, as you know, it is dangerous work that we do.
Top 10 Hazards Of Being A Mom Blogger
1. Being called a "mom blogger."
2. Husband thinks you are neglecting him and the kids and makes remarks like "Enough with that blog thing already!"
3. You look at everything in terms of post potential—house catastrophes, male pattern baldness, dead hamsters.
4. Heart palpitations and sweaty palms when you can't come up with an idea for a post.
5. Kids? What kids?
6. Mother-in-law finds out you make jokes about her on the blog and wigs out. Dang! She knows how to read blogs?
7. Friends refuse to tell you things for fear they will turn up online. As if you would EVER tell that Fran is cheating on her husband!!!!!!
8 You pour your heart out in a post and get two comments. And one of them is from your mother-in-law. And she's mad.
9. Potential defamation suits from the kids down the road.
10. You tell me!

Being called a Mom Blogger is the biggest one for me.
And YES. EVERYTHING that happens to me is potential blog fodder.
If you forget to take pictures, events can be "reinacted" for the sake of the blog.....
In regards to #8, You never, ever get only two comments...that would be my blog!

checking in from MBC. you NAILED IT! holy cow all of those things go through my head or happen in my house. I swear I have a list on my fridge that I jot down potential post topics but panic when none of them magically flow. Even down to the comments thing..

I was just thinking about this...I think one hazard is getting "caught up" in it...I mean you could spend 40 hours a week on your blog!!!!

My mother-in-law found my blog. It was ugly, very ugly.
Friends and family look at you with blank stares when you say anything related to blogging, twitter, stats, or links.
Well, I'm not a "Mom Blogger" (I'm only 15!) but I am an "Aunt Blogger" (I blog about my nephews and my niece that's due in November) But in regards to #8, I have to say I'd be HAPPY to get 2 comments - I've only had one on my blog since January! XD
But I really think you hit the nail on the head with this one!
My biggest hazard: Once again, not feeling like one of the "cool kids" when my numbers are so low (at least compared to some)!

Ken: BlogHer is a big conference for bloggers. There are some guys there but it's a whole lot of women. Lots of seminars, lots of parties. A good excuse to run away from home for a few days, which I have.
