Special Needs Blogger Weekend Link Up: Good Summer Reads Edition

It's another Special Needs Blogger Weekend Link-Up, almost like a vacation! Um, not exactly, that just sounded good. You will, however, get to read some awesome posts.

The idea

Link to a favorite post of the week—yours or someone else's.

What to do

Scroll all the way down to the bottom of this post. Where it says "Your name" put the name of the blog followed by the title of the post (or just the name of the post, if there's no room—you get 80 characters).

Like this: Love That Max: I Have Chocolate Milk Running Through My Veins

Where it says "Your URL" put the direct link to the post.

Click "Enter." Leave a comment if you want to say more. Go check out some great posts.

Happy linking!

  1. In "I need a new word" I describe an incident in which my 5 year old, who uses a communication device, was trying to tell me something and I couldn't understand. She wanted me to add a new button to her talker, but I couldn't figure out what it was. The post has 3 videos clips: the first clip will kind of break your heart and the second will kind of put it back together again :) (and the third is just cute)

  2. Thanks again, Ellen. So many incredible stories being told here. Ours is about post-traumatic stress suffered from time in the neo-natal intensive care unit, and the sad statistics of parental separation as a result. Special needs kids have special, courageous parents. Happy weekend, all of you!

  3. I linked to a post called Day 1066: WWYD? – Disabled People Are Harassed By Obnoxious Customers! it's about an episode of What Would You Do where a person in a wheelchair is being harassed by a customer. Thank you for hosting this link-up.

  4. Thanks again for hosting this Ellen. My post is about me finally owning up to the fact that I need to get a dog for my kids who are both on the spectrum, even though i dislike pets.

  5. Thanks Ellen! My article, Three things to consider about new information on your child's condition, is up on my Examiner page. It's so easy to get carried away and overwhelmed when new research findings are announced.

  6. Writing about why good hospitals and doctors finally made me okay with living where I live. (And a giveaway, if you need a new iPhone cover.)

  7. Thank you again! Today's post is actually a re-post from TUC, who said it perfectly. There's an exciting new initiative for Down syndrome research funding that will benefit all of our children with Ds if we band together. Please read and register on the link for the ONE21 site for an e-mail blast giving the details rolling out on August 21st. Down syndrome research is horribly under-funded. We can make a difference.

  11. Fantastic as always - loving link #1 #4 and #23 especially. It always makes me feel so much less alone to read other families dealing with the same stuff - even if it's different, it's all the same.
    Take care everyone

  13. Hi, so happy to have found this and will enjoy a good read on a train trip I've got coming up soon... my post is about trying to get a diagnosis of PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) for our little girl...

  14. Thanks for hosing this! I posted "The Sucker Punch", about how I could so easily have been one of those smug, self-righteous, "I don't understand why you're having problems with your child" kind of parent ... if I had stopped after Kid #1. There is a great comment conversation going on below the post, too ... hope you will join in! ~ Ruth

  15. Thanks again for doing this. It is nice to have an opportunity to reach a wider group of people. This week my video discusses one of the tricks I use to try and make it a little easier to edit the communication pages on J's AAC device (a Tobii C12). I hope it is helpful for someone else out there.
