Sad thing is, this person has a child with a disability, so you think they would know better than to use it. I finally straight up told the person that I did not like him using that word; he just stared at me in disbelief.

As for kids? I have made it clear to my children that if either of them EVER make fun of anyone different, they would be in big trouble. You are right: we need more love and more inclusion.CMhttps://asdjourney.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-401303964563152307.post-18578878276367286532017-03-04T23:23:00.141-05:002017-03-04T23:23:00.141-05:00That word makes me sick to my stomach! Hopefully the message of hope and empowerment we share by advocating (what I call) "Recovery Language," will englighten others to do the same. My daughter who has Cerebral Palsy and Joe became friends in pre school and I am always truly amazed at what a kind loving and caring young man he is. I just wish and pray everyone sees how truly amazing he is and how amazing the Caliendo Family is. I am forever grateful they are my friends. If I had kids and they said it to me once, not knowing what it meant, I'd explain to them how hurtful it is, but I'd also tell them I had better not EVER hear that word from their mouths again or there would be serious consequences.
