Back To School Giveaway: Win a $50 spa gift card

Today, I had the sad realization that summer was gone and I hadn't gotten myself a single pedicure (cue the mournful violin music). I didn't get one last summer, either. I am already pretty low-maintenance about beauty stuff; I don't require regular manis, highlights or blowouts. I barely have the patience to sit through a haircut. I don't even like massages (I know, that's weird). But I used to go for regular pedicures come June; it made me happy to look down and see pink polish peeking out of my sandals. I think it's clear, from my untrimmed head to my undone toes, that I need to spend a little more time on me.

Meanwhile, I'm happy to play beauty fairy and give away three $50 spa gift cards, because I'll bet a lot of you don't have much time for pampering, either. They come to you courtesy of Spa Week, which kicks off on the West Coast and in Chicago this week and will be coming to the East Coast, Midwest and Toronto the week of October 11th. Spas around the country offer massages, facials and other services at the discounted price of fifty bucks.

The gift cards, which don't expire, are good at lots of places around the country; to see which spas in your area accept them, type in your zip code at the Spa Week site. Whether or not you win, you can get a $50 treatment; check out which spas are participating.

To enter to win a gift card, leave a comment below telling me which beauty treatments you most adore getting. Me: pedi (duh), and European facials in which someone squeezes my pores silly.

Come to my house and babysit so I can go get a pedicure. Kid-ding!

This giveaway is open until Wednesday September 22 10:00 EST, and is for U.S. residents. I'll randomly pick three winners, announce them here and send out e-mail alerts. Note, please leave your email if it is not visible on your blog.

Now, enjoy this video on the perils of getting naked!

Update: The winners of the $50 spa gift cards are Jana Weaver (who will surely be getting a massage), Shellycox (ditto) and nhnoblitt (who's going to run, not walk, to get a pedicure). Happy pampering, ladies!

  2. Oh boy, where to start? I most enjoy getting massages, but I'll also go for a manicure or a haircut. Actually, pretty much anything where I sit back and get pampered would be nice :-P

  3. Would have to be a lovely massage for me. Thanks!

  4. someday you should have a giveaway that is specifically for NON-US residents because it's kind of not fair. Especially because as I read, I had already decided that if I won, I was going to give the gift card to a special friend of yours out of the goodness of my heart (and fine, for her birthday!) But now i'll have to spend actual money on her birthday. Thanks!

  5. And PS, my fave spa treatment is the FREE kind. I love a massage but most often get pedis because its a nice treatment thats like a goody bag at a party- you get the pretty toes to take away. But when we were in Borneo and massages were like $3 for an hour, we got lots and lots and they were AWESEOME!

  6. My favorite would have to be a massage. I've never had a professional one (yet!) but I know that would make my month.

  8. My favorite spa treatment for enjoyment purposes is a massage - for beauty purposes it's a facial/mini-peel. I could really use both right about now!

  10. Always the pedicures; manis never last long enough when you're a therapist washing hands vigorously between each home visit. And a facial helps keep me looking younger despite the stress . . . :) lesliejane@gmail.com

  14. I love a massage most, but am more likley to get a pedicure - they are great value and last for ages, while a manicure is destroyed preparing one meal.

  22. I didn't get a pedi this summer either. This would make up for it! I love pedi nd mani and hair cut and new hair styles... havne't had money to get them! :P

  23. Me, me, pick me!! My favorite would definitely be a massage, the longer the better. I used to get one once a year for my birthday or anniversary but someow it didn't happen this past year. Running after 3 little ones and shlepping them and all their gear around can def. take its toll on my back. Massages are great for all that tension...I could go on and on, but I'll stop for now :)

  25. I'm with you -- facial with PAINFUL EXTRACTIONS! BLISS! If it doesn't hurt a little, I refuse to believe it does any good. I am a masochist and I love it.

( Pedis -- without hurting -- come in second.)

  26. love pedicures...im a distance runner, so my "me" time goes to that instead getting out for pedicures. but that's all the more reason i need to. have you ever seen a runner with pretty feet? mine are a mess :)

  29. I haven't ever had any other thing than mani/pedi... I'm with you on needing to take more/better care of myself. But it seems we have our hands full with all the 'taking care of' that we can muster, huh?

  30. I like getting anything done which will give me an opportunity to get away from life and the kids for a bit... I especially like any type of massage, but if I can plan a quick escape, I would probably even walk on a bed of nails....

  31. OMG...what I wouldn't do for a massage! Carrying around a 2 year old sized body with 4 month old muscle tone can really wear a body down!!!
