Grandmas who are nutso for their grandkids (and the daughters who love them)

This is a shot of Max when he was 9 months old. Yeah, I dressed him in a sailor suit. My mom (aka "Babba") fell in love with the hat. Whenever she visits, she STILL puts it on him.

I don't think this qualifies as child abuse, but I'm not sure.

After Max was born and we found out that he'd had a stroke, I was afraid to tell my mother. She is the world's biggest worrier, and what had happened to him was so catastrophic I thought she wouldn't be able to handle it. But she dealt, as we all did. She has long been Max's biggest fan/cheerleader. He adores her.

Today, he untied her shoelaces so she wouldn't leave.

We're lucky Babba lives pretty close. Here's an interesting piece I just read on grandparents who don't live near their grandkids and how they're into webcams.

What silly stuff does your mom (or mother-in-law) do with your kids?

  1. My mom has always cared for Meghan (MM) when I work. It is such a blessing that she lives around the corner (moved here to help me care for her). Their bond is undeniable- sometimes I think she loves Nana more than me 8-l~ That is okay though cause I wouldn't have it any other way, I love that lady bunches as well.

BTW, WTG Max on saying TURKEY! That is awesome! What a great thing to be thankful for!

  2. Funny how Nana's are like that. My son and my mom have an amazing bond. They just love each other so much. She does everything silly with him, and isn't afraid to do it in front of anyone. She loves him undeniably and unconditionally. We're lucky to have her so close too.

    Thanks for the blogroll.

    Mia.

  4. Thanks for stopping by to say Hi to me & Nik! :-) We live just down the street from my parents so my mom is often dropping by to visit. She & Nik do the "If you're happy & you know it" song together. She sings, he claps and then gives her a big kiss at the end. He will *only* do this with his Nanny! It's cute.

Hey, I see our guys have b-days very close to each other! Nik's is the 2nd.

  5. Sounds like a pretty smart kid with untying the shoelaces! It's great that they have such a good relationship. My son and my MIL get along great, but my mom lives pretty far away, so he doesn't really know her that well and she isn't online to email or do the webcam thing.

    Nice to meet you!

  6. Elizabeth asked me the other day to 'feed her like a little puppy cause that's what gram's does'. All this work on her independence and my mom is feeding her like a puppy. She is a great help even if she feeds her like a puppy.
