She's been sick on and off since Christmas, and the down time let us find some great apps for her. We have some for learning, some for transitions, some for telling feelings, and of course some for fun. I can't wait to see all that the ipad does for Claire and I can't thank you enough making this opportunity possible. I'm having problems with getting him any help since insurance will not cover speech therapy or any coverage for autism or any develpment delay. He is a visual learner and an Ipad would help with his speech. I just want the best for my son, like any parent. Right now my main concern is to get him caught up with his peers so he can start school on time. His developmental age is about 18 months but is really smart when it comes to electronics, like most kids. Right now I had to quit school so I can stay home with him. He is always sick and makes it impossible to be in school and the best advocate for my son since we don't get any help with treatment. I'm looking into moving to a different state that will help my little love bug for the best possible future. amandaschlichter4@gmail.com Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-401303964563152307.post-69254466499693230992012-12-03T14:13:14.064-05:002012-12-03T14:13:14.064-05:00My daughter Stella needs an iPad! Handwriting is painful and difficult for her which makes doing school work extra difficult (she's in 6th grade). Both have been accepted into special education preschool. My brother uses a similar device in his classroom to help him express his needs and wants, but I don't think my sister does. My sister can't produce full sentences and just repeats words. I would really like for one of them to win this ipad 2 for Christmas. Hopefully, this special gift will allow them to express their needs and wants. I never usually had luck with stuff like this but here's my story. I'm a single mom of a sweet 13yr old boy who happens to have Autism and is completely non-verbal. I don't receive any financial help from his father. Communication has been his greatest struggle with his autism.I still hope and pray that I'll hear the words 'Mommy' and 'I love you' someday since he has never spoken. I've been trying to get him an ipad but because of financial strains, it's been difficult. Getting an ipad would be soooo beneficial to him and certainly make a huge difference for us with communication.
