The report details why kids with disabled parents get removed.

I am also disabled and was told by CPS I never should have kids, because of issues directly related to my disability in caring for a child, but as a teacher and instructor of child abuse issues, mandated reporters are directed to question why a disabled adult wants/has a child. It is a report ...Look up Rocking the Cradle online. It is a report by the federal disability commission where they looked at disability laws and parenting restrictions. In almost every state, ADA accommodation is not allowed in parenting because the child would be more at risk for abuse and neglect.

Now as a child abuse trainer through the schools, I am required to tell mandated reporters that if the adult has a disability, we are required by law to inquire about parenting performance, and assume people with disabilities should not be parents (this is mandated by law, not something I decide to do). Laws on parenting and parenting performance need to be changed IF people with disabilities can have kids.

I was told by CPS I never should have kids based on my disability. You almost certainly know about this, but just in case: are you familiar with Rachelle Chapman (the "paralyzed bride")? She blogs about living with quadriplegia, including how she's learning (or sometimes creating!) adaptive methods to take care of her 2-year-old daughter. Barrienoreply@blogger.com
